The Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center won 3 HPCwire Awards

The Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center received three HPCwire Awards 鈥 two expressly for work involving its flagship Bridges-2 computer 鈥 presented at the 2024 International Conference for High Performance Computing, Networking, Storage and Analysis in Atlanta. It marked the 15th time PSC has been recognized among peers in this community.

鈥淭hese awards exemplify the capabilities and dedication of the PSC team in supporting a diversity of workloads on Bridges-2 and in artificial intelligence, including our Neocortex system,鈥 said PSC director Barr von Oehsen. 鈥淚t is gratifying to see that their expertise, knowledge and commitment to supporting research and education across the country is being recognized.鈥

PSC earned readers鈥 choice awards for Best Use of AI Methods for Augmenting HPC Applications and Best HPC Collaboration. The center also earned an editors鈥 choice award for Best Use of HPC in Industry for its use of Bridges-2 to create a virtual water treatment plant, enabling AI to learn from veteran engineers鈥 responses to simulated breakdowns.
