Three Â鶹´«Ã½ affiliates were recently honored by the Philosophy of Science Association (PSA).
Jim Woodward, emeritus professor of history and philosophy of science and former PSA president, won the association’s Hempel Award, which recognizes lifetime scholarly achievement in the philosophy of science.
Bixin Guo (A&S ’24G), a graduate of the PhD program in Pitt’s Department of History and Philosophy of Science, won the PSA International Syllabus Repository and Prize. This prize selects syllabi that showcase effective and creative teaching of the philosophy of science that reaches beyond the Anglophone mainstream.
Jennifer Jhun (A&S ’16G), a PhD graduate of the Department of Philosophy, won the Ernest Nagel Early-Career Scholar Essay Award. The honor is given to the best single-authored essay published in Philosophy of Science during the award year by someone who is either a graduate student at the time of publication or has received a PhD within the past five years.
