A multidisciplinary team of students from the Â鶹´«Ã½ and Carnegie Mellon University has advanced to the EnergyTech University Prize National Pitch Event, which will happen April 15 at the Energy Thought Summit in Austin, Texas.
Sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Technology Transitions, the EnergyTech University Prize selected 28 student finalist teams from among 225 competitors representing 117 schools at regional events in February.
To prepare for the events, teams identified a DOE National Laboratory-developed or other high-potential energy technology, assessed its market potential, created a business plan for commercialization and pitched that plan to a panel of industry judges.
The Pitt and Carnegie Mellon team, Flow Battery Diagnostics for Energy Reliability, was awarded $3,000 in the regional rounds. After final pitches, up to three national winners will be selected to share an $80,000 prize pool.
