The winners of this year’s include Emily Underwood and Alex Fixler (doctoral category, Â鶹´«Ã½ of Social Work); Michelle Nguyen (master’s category, Â鶹´«Ã½ of Public Health); Lindsey Kampas (first professional category, Â鶹´«Ã½ of Pharmacy); and Tyia Wilson (postdoctoral fellow category, Â鶹´«Ã½ of Medicine).

Faculty members reviewed abstracts of research conducted by graduate and professional students throughout the health sciences, as well as from the Kenneth P. Dietrich Â鶹´«Ã½ of Arts and Sciences Department of Psychology, the Â鶹´«Ã½ of Education and the Â鶹´«Ã½ of Social Work in one of four training/education categories — doctoral, master’s, first professional and postdoctoral fellow. Students whose abstracts were approved to move forward were invited to submit posters into the competition. Faculty members then judged the posters and winners were awarded cash prizes.

Started in 2010, the poster competition gives student researchers an opportunity to present their health disparities-based scholarship and community engagement and to expand their professional skill set. Students showcase their work in health disparities that are based on race or ethnicity, gender, disability, sexual orientation, age and other parameters.
