The University’s Career Center is gearing up for its second — a virtual event that trains students on using the to apply for jobs and internships. From 2-5 p.m. on Nov. 10 and 11, get assistance navigating Handshake’s interface and one-on-one coaching as you search and apply for opportunities.
Handshake is an “all-in-one early talent recruiting platform” that boasts connecting more than nine million students and alumni across 90 percent of the top education institutions in the U.S.The website is free to use for all Pitt students and available through the MyPitt portal.
Corporations using the app include PayPal, Under Armour, Box, IBM, Amazon, Tesla, The New York Times, P&G, Target, Duolingo and others in the technology, finance, education, media, marketing and government sectors.
While last year’s pilot APPLYmania was only open to juniors and seniors in the Kenneth P. Dietrich 鶹ý of Arts and Sciences, all sophomores, juniors and seniors are invited to participate this year.
“The goal of the program is to promote the many opportunities available through Handshake and to help students get more comfortable with the job search process,” said Jon Frye, the Career Center’s marketing and communications coordinator.
