The �鶹��ý Press has awarded the 2021 to Anuradha Bhowmik for her poetry collection “Brown Girl Chromatography,” a glimpse into Bhowmik’s life as a Bangladeshi-born American woman growing up as a first-generation immigrant in the United States.

Bhowmik, who currently resides in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, will be published by the press in the fall 2022 Pitt Poetry Series. She will also receive a $5,000 cash award.

Established in 1981, the Agnes Lynch Starrett Poetry Prize is awarded for a first full-length book of poems. The award is named in honor of the press’s first director.
