The University’s on-campus residence halls and apartment-style options house more than 8,000 students, so hundreds of student volunteers were on-site to ensure the transition to campus was seamless for first-time and returning students.
Incoming first-years got to know the University at events and activations throughout Welcome Week, including a Pitt tent with LED games and activities, tabling by local organizations like Visit Pittsburgh and Heinz History Center, a night at the Carnegie Museums, a wellness panel featuring Pitt families and more. .
On Wednesday, new students gathered at Petersen Events Center for New Student Convocation, followed by the class picture and a pep rally. .
The week’s festivities concluded Sunday with the Involvement Fair andÌýLantern Night.

On Thursday morning, 256 first-year students moved into Pitt-Bradford with the help of student spirit squads. They join the regional campus alongside 61 first-year commuter students and 68 transfer students. Upperclass students move in on Saturday, and Pitt-Bradford will kick off the academic year with its annual convocation carnival.
