Even the rainy weather couldn’t dampen spirits as the Pitt Panthers pulled away to beat a Louisville in the third quarter of Saturday’s homecoming game.

The Acrisure Stadium stands were filled with students, alumni and other Pitt community members, many of whom were donning blue ponchos and waving yellow towels over their heads as the Panthers shut down the undefeated Cardinals.

The win came in part thanks to quarterback Christian Veilleux, who threw for 200 yards and two touchdowns in his first career start.

At halftime, the 2023 Spirit of Pitt award winners were announced: Gabby Lombardi, a microbiology major, and Courtney Sheridan, a computer science major. The prize for community involvement and Pitt pride includes a $1,500 resource award.

I Love Pitt Day, the Pitt Band Snake, an alumni reunion in the Cathedral of Learning, the fireworks and laser show and other homecoming traditions happened throughout the week, leading up to the big game and tailgate. Keep scrolling to see memories from the weekend.
