Welcome back, Panthers!

More than 8,000 students settled into their residence halls and favorite corners of campus last week, transforming the Oakland neighborhood from a quiet summertime district to a busting college community.

300 student volunteers were there to kick offÌýÌýfor first-years on Aug. 20 and upperclass students on Aug. 24. Following the success of last year’sÌý, a partnership between the Â鶹´«Ã½ and UPS that saw 13,000 boxes shipped to students, the program once again simplified and enhanced the move-in process for all.

Pitt hosted a series of events designed to welcome new and returning students for the term. Functions included a silent disco, picnics, late night socials for DIY room decor and more.

The week’s festivities concluded on Sunday, Aug. 27, with the Student Activities Fair andÌýLantern Night. The latter was particularly special becauseÌýChancellor Joan GabelÌýexperienced Pitt’s oldest tradition for the first time alongside first years in attendance.

Photographers from the Office of University Communications and Marketing were on site for signature events to capture pivotal Pitt moments as the campus community commences the 23-2024 academic year.ÌýView the gallery, and Hail to Pitt!
