Local events set to honor the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting victims

Events throughout the city will commemorate the 11 lives lost and countless others affected by the Oct. 27, 2018, tragedy. Here’s how you can join in mourning and in the spirit of hope this week.

Commemorative volunteering

Honor the spirit of those who were killed by engaging in community action, including blood drives, cleanups and book packing, among other activities.

Register for morning discussions that will address dealing with grief, the connection between storytelling and religion, Israeli popular music and more.

A commemoration ceremony

Head to Schenley Park for an hourlong program that will include candle lighting by victims’ family members, music and remarks by U.S. Attorney Eric Olshan.

Shabbat dinner

Join Repair the World Pittsburgh, Kesher Pittsburgh and the local community for Together at the Table Shabbat dinner at the East End Cooperative Ministry. Share a meal, rituals and conversations.
