In the health sciences, the Â鶹´«Ã½ of Public Health maintained its No. 15 spot, with a jump to No. 14 in the area of healthcare management. Pitt also ranked No. 17 in the category of rehabilitation counseling and No. 50 for physician assistants.ÌýPitt’s ranked No. 10 in the Doctor of Nursing Practice category, with two specialty areas landing in the top 10: Nursing Administration at No. 5 and Doctor of Nursing Practitioner: Administration/Management at No. 6. U.S. News delayed its rankings of the top medical schools, and no release date has been announced.
The also had a strong showing, jumping 5 spots to No. 27 overall, and the Swanson Â鶹´«Ã½ of Engineering increased one spot to No. 47, with four specialties (biomedical, chemical, computer and industrial engineering) ranking in the top 50.
Pitt’s Graduate Â鶹´«Ã½ of Public and International Affairs stayed constant at No. 39, jumping several places in two specialty categories — Local Government Management at No. 15 and Urban Policy at No. 22 — and with a third, International/Global Policy and Administration, reaching No. 9. Two areas in the Kenneth P. Dietrich Â鶹´«Ã½ of Arts and Sciences also remained in the top 50: Chemistry stayed at No. 42, and physics jumped 10 places to No. 38.
The U.S. News and World Report compiles rankings through surveys and data-gathering on the qualities of programs at different schools. Although it updates rankings annually, not all categories are updated each year.
